The Pammie barb wire on the upper arm is my tattoo. I had it done in Soho by a chap who advised that I eat some breakfast before he started. Me being all health concerned (?) thought a small box of sunmaid raisins would suffice. Him: "No love - a bacon butty." When he got to the underarm bit he said "....now this is where it can get quite tasty"!. I thought he meant the bacon butty but he was referring to the underarm needling.

The underarm bit does sting a little, but I was comforted by the Tatooist who said the followig when he placed my hand between his knees to keep my arm steady - "If you get an stiffie whilst I am doing this, then you will NOT have a complete tattoo as I will kick you out on your ass - kapish" All that went through my mind was "WTF I want to leave this instant F%^KING ASSHOLE"

  RWL! I believe you. Nobody would willingly make-up the stories us tattooed fuckwits experience in pursuit of the masochistic pleasures of body art. He really pulled the skin on my arm. I think so as it would not sting as much. But I bet you if I got all cocky (in-keeping with your stiffie story) he could have made it hurt much worse than it did. It makes you realise that for that short or long whining, needling time we are at their mercy.

Though I like the look of Pammy (and her tatoo), as far as tatoos go I've never even entertained the idea of having one. Why go through the needle bit and a permanent mark on your body when you can have a temporary which gives you an option to remove if - or rather when - you change your mind.

Tatoos remind me of death. Like even though every cell in our bodies changes completely every 7 years of our lives (proof of the existence of something soul-like in our beings ) that purple skin stamp is going to be there for the morgue attendent to see at the end.

Now you can maybe see why I need the Dada blog hanky to blow my overfull imagination on every day.

  You give your imagination a good blow! My mother was appalled when I had mine done (it's not exactly discreet, especially when I go sleeveless) but that was just the point of mine. I had it done 8 years ago and I can truthfully say I still don't regret it and still enjoy the image on my arm of barbwire. I guess I wanted to make a statement (permanent) and that's my little piece of rebellion. Even when I'm much older I just don't care. ) I would also add now, though, that people who choose not to have tattoos are probably the rebellious sort!

    AHARRRGG! My beauty... I'm off blogging the Seven Seas now..in me tall masted pirate schooner.. and am looking for a likely lass to serve me cucumber sandwiches and herbal tea. But I have to warn ye that it be a wild adventurous life.. full of rough tattoed seaman and low drinking houses. So whaddya say? For a purse of Spanish dubloons free tattoos and a box of Sunmaid raisins..

  If your going to have one, design it yourself (or get someone to interperate what you want into a design). I really hate the thought of picking something from a wall that's going to be on my body for ever. I suppose I'm a bit of a trainspottish purist when it comes to tattoos.... mind you the husband is a kick ass illustrator so I spose it's ded easy for me to get the design I want.

  No neither did mine. I just used what some call poetic bloggers licence, otherwise life would be so deadly dull. But the bacon butty and the sunmaid raisins was absolutely authentic
