PSEUDO - CHARITIES

The definition of charity: the giving of help, money, goods to those in need.

We all do it.

But there are unscrupulous companies operating under the same banner. Granted their flyers are carefully worded. But quite frankly they are making a considerable profit.

A&P COLLECTION LTD.
You sent a flyer to my house and I checked you out on the net.

If that's the way these people operate now-a-days, I would rather make the effort to fill a bin bag with goods and take it to my local Oxfam and/or Cancer Research shop on the high street. I appreciate that not everyone has the means to do that but they can be at least aware of the bogus collectors

  The sad thing is, I was going to fill a bin bag with stuff for them. We get a lot of flyers around here and I don't normally check them out to see if they are legit.
  
  But last year a bona fide charity for the children's hospital dropped bags in our street. I filled mine and left it out at the required time and some thieving scum came around and loaded the bag into a van about 5 minutes before the children's hospital came to collect. I reported it at the time but I suspect little was done. This sort of theft is worth millions

Read the flyer you stupid morons. A&P Collection IS NOT a charity and it doesn't state that! They just collect unwanted items and sell 'em to third world countries like Ukraine, Belarus etc. Everybody are happy - A&P makes some money and poor people in other countries get a chance to buy some afordable clothing.

So eggbod, wash your eyes next time before reading the flyer. It is not a charity and it doesn't say so. Nor do other companies' leaflets do.

I don't work for A&P Collection or any other similar company. I just know the situation in Eastern Europe. I used to live there. You CAN'T find a free thing there. People who get a chance to buy anything cheaper (especialy clothes) than in shops are very happy. About 50% of people in Ukraine or Belarus or etc. gets minimum wage, which is about 50-120 (depends from country) pounds a MONTH. Do you think all can afford new clothes which costs the same like in UK?

You think charity is better? People who deserve it aren't getting anything, because most of the money sits in some rich bastard's pocket. How do you think "Heart" or any other approved charity gets money? Of course they sell all the stuff which people donates. You can find on almost all different charity bags writen that "blabla company which is a commercial partner of the charity gets 50% or 75% of all money...". They have to pay wages for charity bag deliverers and collectors, leave some money for them, rent a shop and so on. But final destination of all your stuff is......yes that's right....Eastern Europe (except for Heart charity, which sells all their stuff in UK).

So, it's the same shit if it's a charity or just a collection company. 50 a ton doesn't make much difference.

  My post was about companies who give the impression that they are charities and A&P fall under that category.
  
  I'm also well aware that bona fide charities have administrative costs. Some more than others. A&P and a host of others prey on people's charitable nature.
  
  Don't lecture me on charity mate. I know what charity is all about and right from the start it begins here (at home) in this country. If I have largesse leftover then anywhere else it is needed is fine by me, but not to businesses masquarading as charities or businesses who are interested in serving themselves.
