It came and went without so much as a snivel nevermind a whimper.

It was World Toilet Day yesterday. As in there are never any public ones around in public places, and the queue for the Ladies is just that. A queue......ALWAYS! The men don't have that problem.

I have been bold enough (only once) to use the Gents just because there wasn't a queue. Sorry Mate. But then many ladies lavvies today are supervised by male attendants.

Public Conveniences another contradiction in terms....as there is never any toilet paper and the locks are always dodgy.

Best stick with WC. Water closet as the name suggests does have water even if it is all over the floor!

Now wash your hands.

I hates using the public loo. Mind, when I had two pints of Guinness one evening (along with the usual drinkies) and had to go from Liverpool to Heathrow the very next day, I sure didn't mind the public loos when the tom tits hit me.

    Girl, you are bang on. If the need arose and I was desperate, I would barrel my way through, plunk my fluffy arse down and let it fly.
    
    And then I would have the very nerve to go out, wash my hands and not blink twice. hehehehehe
    
    I am a bit OCD though and would then slather my body in anti-germ thingy.

      I did it once, snuck into the gents, and snuck out again. But I can't call it brave as I'd had a couple of wines......I just wish I had the nerve to be bold.

You can always duck into the disabled facilities, they are so spacious, I've been tempted to set up home in one.

  I have done that. Cased the immediate area first. And then said "bollocks" to it and swerved inside. They are always vacant. No squatters in there! Thankfully!

Had the displeasure of using a rolling cess pit recently, onna train, after using some precious paper to 'clean' the seat I was rewarded with only mild stickiness. Yuck. Need to carry around some of that OCD hand foam stuff

Couldn't agree more...big pain in the butt...always having to find them as my back makes me go more than normal bodied women...mind you, having said that...France's toilets are abysmal...and stink to high heaven...at least ours are civilised up to a point...LOL...GBHs...XXX

  I think there is a very big oversight on the part of cafes and pubs etc., How many times do you read "these toilets are for paying customers only". It gets me mad as my mum is not very well and always needs one when she's out.....

    If I'm desperate, I just go into a pub and walk through...nobody's ever stopped me...and anywhere that says for paying customer's only, I say I'm disabled can I please use your toilet...and again, nobody's refused...you should try it with your Mum if she's desperate...pubs are pretty good that way...GBHs...XXX

      My Mum was given a hard time by somebody in a coffee shop when she needed the loo. I think it's awful when you are ill or whatever and you have to volunteer information. This woman followed my mum through the back and banged on the toilet door. I thought that was dreadful.
      
      If I'm ever in that position and somebody challenges me about their toilet facilities I have vowed that I will shout loudly that "I have bowel cancer!". Harsh perhaps but it may make people more tolerant.

  You have jogged my memory now as I remember watching a TV programme as a child called "cloche merle". I was absolutely agog when they residents of the village would use a "pissoir". Which to me looked like a hole in the middle of the village square with a modesty panel around it....this was going back some years now.

  Have you noticed that a lot of loos in service stations have misappropriated your smiley icons?
  
  If you are not happy with the state of the loos then you can select the icon that most describes its appearance. They are always by the door as you leave.

    Really? I didn't know. I never go to service station loos. I wee in the ditch by the side of the road, but that's the joy of living in whoop-whops. HA!
    
    The best public toilet icons are the silhouettes of Victorian ladies siting on a night pot with an umbrella. That's why I think we call loos Ladies.

      I know the ones you mean. They look very prissy. Normally full-frocked. But I've never seen one sitting on a night pot. I will look out for one of those on my next visit to the garden centre!!!!
